The 91st Academy Awards are on tonight (ABC at 7pm CST), and there is no question that there is a stellar list of movies and nominations up for several awards. Action movies like “Black Panther” and dramas like “A Star Is Born” will go head to head for Best Picture. For this weekend’s episode of "In The Mix", our DJs have some thoughts on who should win the Oscar for Best Picture (2019).

Elizabeth Kay (5:00 a.m. - 9:00 a.m.): My favorite movie of 2018 has to be “Black Panther”. Now, I went to this movie with my son and my husband, who love all those superhero movies. I didn’t think I would like it; I loved it! I have now seen that movie five times. I love “Black Panther.”

Tony "Radar" Hess (5:00 a.m. - 9:00 a.m.): Favorite movie of 2018 has to be, of course, (singing) “In the shallows, shallows. You’re not going to sing with me? We’re far from the shallow now!” Can you guess it? Can you guess it? I even went as “Jackson Maine” for Halloween. That’s what I did. I went as “Jackson Maine”. Although, I had a beard, so yeah. That was it. That’s gotta be the best movie of all time. It’s going to win an Oscar!

Dave "Producer Dave" Stein (5:00 a.m. - 9:00 a.m.): A great movie of 2018, one of my favorites, you probably don’t even know it. It’s called, “The Favourite”, and it’s nominated for an Oscar. I think it may even win Best Picture. Emma Stone, Rachel Weisz, takes place back in the 18th century, but it’s really funny, and it relates really well to nowadays. It’s a nice revenge flick also. You’re going to like it.

Molly Cruz (9:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.): Obviously the best movie this year, “A Star is Born”. What? Is there any question, seriously? It was amazing. I haven’t bought a DVD, or a Blu-ray, or whatever they call them nowadays in years, but I just saw it at Target and I really, seriously, contemplated buying it. Best movie this year, “A Star Is Born”. Don’t @ me.

Aaron Carreno (1:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m.): So, it was my favorite film and it happened to not really be in many theaters, but it’s called “Boy Erased”. It’s about conversion therapy, and how messed up that is. You should go see it. It’s with Troye Sivan and a couple of other incredible actors and actresses. It’s really good.

These were our choices, but the full list official nominees for the Academy Award for Best Picture (2019) include: “Black Panther”, “BlacKkKlansman”, “Bohemian Rhapsody”, “The Favourite”, “Green Book”, “Roma”, “A Star Is Born”, and “Vice”.
