As winter begins to wind down (first day of Spring is March 20, 2019!), more free family friendly events are popping up in Southeastern Wisconsin. The key word here is 'free', which means you can make new family memories, without having to spend a dime! Whether it's museums, farmers markets, or library fun, we’ve got you covered. 

Here is a list of many happenings in Milwaukee and surrounding areas for March 2019! 

  • Saturdays in March (8 a.m. - 12 p.m.) - The Milwaukee Winter Farmers Market @ the Domes Greenhouse Annex
    • Enjoy this indoor farmers market every Saturday in March and take a walk through over 50 local vendors. This event is family friendly. They also accept Quest cards.
    • Friday, March 1st (12 p.m. - 3 p.m.) - Dr. Seuss Day @ Racine Public Library
      • There will be many crafts and children’s activities.
    • Friday, March 1st (6 p.m.) - The Incredibles 2 @ South Milwaukee Performing Arts Center
      • The South Milwaukee Leo Club presents this family fun night! There will be a photo booth, bake sale, and 50/50 raffle.
    • Saturday, March 2nd (9:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.) - Family Free Days @ The Milwaukee County Zoo
      • All families get complimentary admission to the zoo on this day! Parking is not included.
    • Saturday, March 2nd (10 a.m. - 1 p.m.) - Ms. Kim’s Amazing Animals @ Milwaukee Public Library (Central)
      • To celebrate Dr. Seuss' birthday, Ms. Kim’s Amazing Animals will be there for children to interact with small mammals and reptiles! Check out this link for specific dates of your location.
    • Saturday, March 2nd (10 a.m. - 1 p.m.) - Browser’s Book Bash @ The Milwaukee Public Library (Central)
      • Celebrate Dr. Suess with read alouds, singing, face painting, cookie decorating, and more! 
    • Sunday, March 3rd (9 a.m. - 1 p.m.) - Kids Resale Event! @ Marigold Marketplace and Studio
      • Save money with this gently used children’s items event, and support local families.
    • Thursday, March 7th (9 a.m. - 5 p.m.) - Free First Thursday @ The Mitchell Park Domes
      • You must have proof of Wisconsin residency to receive free admission.
    • Thursday, March 7th (9 a.m. - 8 p.m.) - Kohl’s Thank You Thursdays @ The Milwaukee Public Museum
      • All participants will receive free entry to the Milwaukee Public Museum.
    • Thursday, March 7th (10 a.m. - 8 p.m.) - Meijer Free First Thursday @ The Milwaukee Art Museum
      • Your family can explore history and beauty as they walk through the museum - for free, thanks to Meijer! 
    • Friday, March 8th (6:30 p.m.) - Free Family Movie Night: The Greatest Showman @ The Spirit of Peace Lutheran Church
      • Enjoy time with family and popcorn while watching the hit flick, The Greatest Showman.
    • Saturday, March 9th (10 a.m. - 3 p.m.) - Just Add Kids Family Expo 2019 @ Fountain Banquet Hall
      • There will be many local vendors here to learn even more about family fun in the area! Kids activities, fun performances, and more are included! Admission is free with donation of pillow cases, pillows, twin sheets, bath towels, or face clothes (otherwise, admission is $1. Children under 12 free).
    • Saturday, March 9th (12 p.m.) - 53rd Annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade @ Intersection of Wisconsin Ave. & Old World 3rd St.
      • The Shamrock Club’s Parade will kick off at noon; see dancers, hear music, and celebrate!
    • Saturday, March 9th (3:30 p.m.) - St. Patrick’s Day Parade @ Balistreri's Bluemound Inn
      • The Bluemound Business Association and Miller Lite present this parade every year, and it’s full of family fun! If you plan your day out right, you can hit two parades in one day!
    • Saturday, March 9th (9 a.m. - 3 p.m.) - GO! Discover: All Things Wet & Slimy @ Havenwoods State Forest
      • This event includes mud, slime, and slugs! If you want to experience the fun and messiness of [almost] Spring, stop here!
    • Tuesday, March 12th (6:30 p.m. - 7:30 p.m.) - Family Fun Night: Dr. Seuss Celebration with Kidsplay @ Oak Creek Public Library
      • Enjoy a fun performance of Horton Hears a Who!
    • Saturday, March 16th (9 a.m. - 3 p.m.) - GO! Discover: All Things Wet & Slimy @ Havenwoods State Forest
      • This event includes mud, slime, and slugs! If you want to experience the fun and messiness of [almost] Spring, stop here!
    • Saturday, March 16th (10 a.m. - 1 p.m.) - Family Day @ The Milwaukee County Historical Society
      • Experience the history of the 1920’s era, see live dancing, have fun with the scavenger hunt, and more! The Historical Society offers free admission during the event.
    • Thursday, March 21st (5 p.m. - 8 p.m.) - Neighborhood Night @ Betty Brinn Children’s Museum
      • Enjoy countless free kids activities, and special creativity workshops. 
    • Saturday, March 23rd (11 a.m. - 4 p.m.) - Maple Syrup Family Day @ Richfield Nature/Historical Park
      • This fun outdoor event teaches you all about maple syrup! You get to see the process first hand, and take fun tours of the area! Last demonstration starts at 3:30.
