10 Ways to Give Back In Milwaukee For Thanksgiving 2019

Many organizations are in need of volunteers and donations this holiday season!

The season of thanks is right around the corner.  It’s a time when we can pause and take the time to recognize all of the things we are thankful for.  More than that, it is a wonderful time to volunteer our time, possessions, and efforts to make sure that others have much to be thankful for as well.

Here is a list of ways you can help out in Milwaukee during the Thanksgiving season:

  • Aurora Health Care Foundation in Milwaukee - volunteers can help prepare and deliver bags of Thanksgiving groceries.  Monetary donations are also accepted.
  • The Gathering in Milwaukee - volunteer opportunities are available for both individuals and groups who want to join the fight against hunger in our community.  Also accepting in-kind donations.
  • Feeding America Eastern Wisconsin in Milwaukee or Fox Valley - individuals, families, corporate and social groups are needed at the Milwaukee food bank and special events. Donations of food and money also accepted.
  • Hunger Task Force in Milwaukee - volunteers help with a variety of tasks from food sorting to special events (like the Turkey Trot).  Monetary donations also accepted
  • Milwaukee Rescue Mission in Milwaukee - with volunteer assistance, they will serve hundreds of Thanksgiving meals to the homeless.  Donations of money and items of need also accepted.
  • Salvation Army in Milwaukee (414-302-4300) - volunteers help to change people's lives across a wide range of activities and programs.  Monetary donations also accepted.
  • United Way of Greater Milwaukee & Waukesha County (414-263-8100) - individuals and groups can make a meaningful impact on their community in a variety of ways.  Monetary donations also accepted.
  • Volunteer Milwaukee (414-273-7887) - search their database to find volunteer opportunities.
  • Repairers of the Breach – Monetary and in-kind donations help provide refuge and resources for homeless adults in the Milwaukee area.
  • Journey House – You can give to Journey House through monetary donations or by providing items on their Wish List.  Journey House looks to help Milwaukee families move out of poverty and get onto their feet.
  • Drumstick Dash – Sign up for or volunteer at the 8th annual Drumstick Dash.  Food donations and part of the registration fee go to Feeding America Eastern Wisconsin.
