Do you have a real tree up in your house this Christmas? We do! We love the Fraser fir trees.

And here are some tips to keep your tree looking and smelling fresh all season long!

  1. Make sure to saw off about an inch off the bottom of the trunk before you put it in the stand. These trees sit in lots for weeks sometimes before they're sold. This will improve the water intake.
  2. Use the proper stand (I suggest you invest in a good, quality stand that can hold up to 1 to 1.5 gallons of water). A bigger tree might mean a bigger stand.
  3. Make sure to use lights that aren't too old or too hot or have broken wires. Make sure to unplug the tree at night.
  4. Keep the tree away from heaters, also a room humidifier can help keep it fresh!
  5. You don't need to add anything to your water - just straight water is best! And make sure to keep the tree hydrated to the water line in the stand. Once the tree stops taking in that much water then you can scale back the watering.
