I was so excited to hear that Elle King would be returning to Milwaukee and even more so when I heard that I would have a chance to interview her backstage at the BMO Harris Pavilion at Summerfest before her show! I just love what she stands for!

I had the chance to talk to her about her latest album, “Shake The Spirit”, which is all about when life sucks and you’re going through some stuff, finding inside what gets you going and really lights your fire. When I asked her what she does to shake her spirit she mentioned that while she’s still a work in progress, but she needs to remember to slow down and treat herself the way she wants the world to treat her.

Elle King’s favorite song off the album is “Little Bit of Lovin’” because it shares a powerful message about loving yourself. That is a message that we all need to share!

She will soon be going on tour with Miranda Lambert and in about a week will join Heart and Joan Jett & The Blackhearts on tour, her whole year is with “female badasses in music” (in her words!). So, I had to know, who is a woman in her life that she looks up to and get this, it’s her Mom (her “biggest hero”) …and Dolly Parton!

Since my whole family has tattoos and my husband, Eric, has like 16 of them – I needed to find out from Elle King (who has over 50 of them herself) where should I avoid getting my first tattoo! I really want to get one, but I keep getting scared out of it, one day I’ll do it.

Elle King said the most painful spot for her was on the sternum – what’s worse than that? The fact that it was of her ex-husband’s name and she needed to cover it up! Also, the top of your foot and ankles are spots to avoid. But, everywhere else is fine.

Make sure to watch the full interview above, she is a total sweetheart! Do you love Elle King too? I would love to hear your stories on either Facebook, Instagram, or Twitter!
