Maximize every purchase

November 29, 2018

Over the course of the next few weeks leading up to the Christmas holiday, I thought I'd share with you a few things that I've implemented to save extra cash, pad my frequent flier accounts, or in some cases, do both!  We recently shared a video with you from the entire MIX staff talking about Cyber Monday and how we save money, get good deals, etc.

Here was my advice:

I wanted to break this down a bit more for you...

1.) Save money by earning CASH BACK buying items through your favorite websites via the Ebates app (or website).  It's pretty straightforward - click the links to your favorite retailers by going through Ebates first, and activate cash back on your shopping purchases.  Personally, I'm getting tremendous value by booking all of my LYFT rides through Ebates and collecting $1.00 off per ride versus just opening the LYFT app on it's own.  I also earn Delta SkyMiles through LYFT, but we can discuss that on another blog ;)

2.) Another useful app is DOSH, which rewards you with cash back for shopping at specific retailers and linking your debit/credit cards to the app (this is how they know how to credit your account).  As you can tell at the time of writing this, I've accumulated about $7 or so in just a few weeks.  I'm new to this app, and it's more of a "set it and forget it" mindset for me.  I'll take extra money any way I can!

3.) If cash back isn't your thing, maybe padding your frequent flier account IS.  Most frequent flier programs have shopping portals that provide you additional opportunities to earn "miles" by beginning a shopping trip through your frequent flier program. It's as easy as logging in and seeing which of your favorite brands are offering up the most miles/points!  Keep in mind, like Ebates, you'll be re-directed from your FF program to the company/business website you'll end up completing your order from.

As you can see, there are PLENTY of ways to accumulate a little extra "bang for your buck" not only during the holidays, but all the time.  The amount of work it takes to get started is honestly effortless and to me, worth the extra effort.  If you're someone who tends to buy a lot online, you'll be surprised how quickly this stuff adds up and maybe even wishing you'd have started years ago!   But hey, it's never too late to get started!

Of course I'm always excited to hear about your money saving solutions and what apps/websites you enjoy!  Connect on social media @OnAirAaron on Facebook/Twitter/Instagram and we'll keep the conversation going!
