Do You Feel This Same Way?

You might be surprised to learn this about me...

July 19, 2019

I'll be honest, I don't get "into" celebrities much.  Do I appreciate their role in our society? Absolutely.  Do I think Ariana Grande is a talented performer and musician? Without question.  Have I laughed while watching a movie featuring Tom Hanks or Jennifer Aniston?  You betcha.

See, I've always looked at musicians and celebrities as the same as you and I.  I don't often get "star struck", and I won't go out of my way to stand in lines for hours to snap a pic or shake someone's hand.

There are a few exceptions to this, and Stuart Scott (formerly of ESPN) is one of them.  Tragically, Stuart passed away several years ago after a battle with cancer.

I always knew I wanted to do something with broadcasting when I got older.

As a kid growing up in rural Wisconsin, I LOVED sports.  We hosted Packer parties every Sunday, and my parents would take me to County Stadium (and Miller Park) all the time.  I used to sit in my bedroom with the door locked playing sports video games pretending I was "calling" the game as Stuart. This of course all was in addition to watching ESPN Sportscenter every night.

Anyway, I saw Friday (during my show) that he would have turned 54 this weekend and got a little bummed out.  I really never looked up to a "celebrity" like that before.

What about YOUOther than a family member or friend, who do (or did) YOU look up to?  I'm curious to hear your response and perhaps some insight as to why.
